Start with the British Museum Egypt Website

This has several sections with images, text, and activities. One of them is the section on writing which includes information on hieroglyphics, the Rosetta Stone which made it possible to decipher them, and on where writing was used.  In another section on daily life, you can play a board game from Egyptian times!
