   3. What changes are involved in the transition from a neolithic village to a civilization, and why?.

   4. What are the general differences in outlook (political, intellectual, and religious) between the Mesopotamian and Egyptian cultures? In what ways can these be traced to the regional geography?

    5. In what ways do the ancient Israelites differ from other Near Eastern civilizations? Why are they so important for us?

    6. What questions must an ancient historian ask himself/herself when using an ancient document, and why?
