Review for Exam #1

General:
     The exam will be a mixture of objective (e.g., multiple choice, definition, fill-in-blank) and subjective (short answer) questions.  You may use pencil or pen to complete your exam, though I strongly recommend pencil.  The exam is designed to last one hour.  In general, the exam could include:  (1) anything covered in class; (2) items in textbook that pertain directly to concepts covered in class; (3) lecture notes on line; (4) study sheets, handouts or other materials used/assigned in class; and (5) questions from videos seen in lab (i.e., video worksheet).  The following is a brief summary of the main topics that are "fair game" for the exam:

Countries of the day
    (plants of the day will not be on the exam)

Introduction

• general info from web notes
• study guide excepts questions 3, 7, 9, 11
• plant way of life will not be directly tested on, but this is a good overview of life from the perspective of a plant - I recommend reading without trying to commit any of it to memory.

Science

• web notes for science (except sections X, XII, XIII)
• web notes for pseudoscience
• all of the on-line exercises (except van Helmont's willow)
• birds & bees worksheet
• Bach flower essences

Evolution

• web notes
• study guide (except 19 - 23, and only 2 types for 24 - note we didn't cover disruptive selection)
• true-false & multiple choice questions provided in class
• all evolution exercises on web (i.e., Readings; Gink & Go)
