Seed Packet Analysis
 

Procedure:  Examine the three seed packets and then answer the following questions: 

1. What information is provided on all three packets?
2. Should any other information be provided?
3. How many Jingle Bells Hybrid Pepper seeds should you plant to insure that you will have 10 seedlings?
4. What does F1 on the Jingle Bells Hybrid Pepper seed pack refer to?
5. If the Jingle Bells Hybrid Pepper plants are grown in the garden and then self-pollinate, can the seeds be collected at the end of the growing season to plant more of this same variety next year?
6. How long will it take for plants to produce ripe fruit?
7. In central Minnesota can we plant Jingle Bells Hybrid Pepper seeds directly into the garden and expect to harvest ripe fruit?  Explain.
8. Which of the seeds will produce plants that will breed true?
9. Which seeds do you expect to cost the most?  Explain.
10.  Which seeds were tested for germination?
11. What is the scientific name of each of the plants?
