Dale White – Trumpets: Dale is Professor Music and Director of Bands at
the College of Saint Benedict/St. John’s University in St. Joseph and
Collegeville. He is an active soloist and is principal trumpet in the
St. Cloud Symphony. He is in demand around the country as a soloist and
has produced two CD volumes titled “Music for Trumpet and Piano.” His
DMA is from the U of M and his MM is from Yale. He also performs
regularly with the newly formed Paramount Jazz Orchestra and
occasionally with the Lake Wobegon Brass Band and an auxiliary trumpet
in the Minnesota Orchestra.
Pat Thorn – Trumpets: Pat is a graduate from St. Cloud State where he
played principal trumpets in the bands, jazz bands and orchestra. He
currently plays in the St. Cloud Symphony along side Dale and is also a
member of the Paramount Jazz Orchestra. He has considerable experience
as a lead player in jazz and rock bands.
Patty Diederichs – Horn: Patty has performance degrees from St. Cloud
State University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has
performed in the Chicago and Baltimore areas. She is principal horn in
the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra and is an active player with local
professional productions and organizations.
Kenton Frohrip – Tenor Trombone: Kenton is a Professor Emeritus at St.
Cloud State University where he taught for 31 years. He has played in
every kind of group imaginable and currently plays in the Lake Wobegon
Brass Band, the Granite City Brass and the Paramount Jazz Orchestra,
which he founded and continues to manage. He retired several years ago
from the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra after 26 years as principal and
section trombone. In addition he is a contract player in the St. Cloud
area and is active as a volunteer in various arts organizations and as a
board member of the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra. He holds a Ph.D. from
the U of M.
John Froelich – Bass Trombone: John has just retired after over thirty
years as a music educator in the Osseo public schools. In addition he
has served as a staff member with the State of Minnesota’s Office of
Children Family and Learning and an interim professor at Gustavus
Adolphus College. He is a past president of the Minnesota Music
Educators Association. He performs with the Lake Wobegon ®Brass Band,
the Basilica Brass (Minneapolis), the Minneapolis Civic Orchestra and in
the summer of 2003 spent the month of July playing in the Rome (Italy)
Festival Orchestra. He holds a Ph.D. from the U of M and is a research
associate in the college of education at St. Cloud State University. He
will be teaching at the College of Saint Benedict during spring, 2006.
