The Chak Path of Knowledge

For centuries, small groups of dedicated human thieves of Lawful- or Neutral-Evil alignment have met and practiced in secret, dedicating themselves to the arts and precepts of this order. Following the Chak Path further hones their thieving skills and teaches them the ways of the fighter. The resulting thief/fighters and thief/clerics exercise their skills as spies and assassins in the service of any who will pay their price.

Taseen

Little is known about the secretive Religion of Taseen. It is said to originate in the mountains north of the Worm Lands, west of the Mahdahn Sea. Some sources connect Taseen with certain evil factions of the Elven races; others connect Taseen with their dark brethren, the Drow. All sources agree that the Clerics of Taseen enrobe themselves in crimson silk and leather from head to toe. A woven net over the face allows them to see and breathe. Their clerics are powerful spellcasters, usually of the 8th to 10th level.

No record exists of the nature of their worship ceremonies. What records of contacts exist consistently report attempts by one of their service, variously called Gatherers or Harvesters, to locate certain marked individuals and, for reasons unknown, bring them to their homeland. One record suggests that on occasions, worshippers of Taseen move about in massed hordes, capturing for sacrifice any and all who encounter the horde. The Taseen holy symbol is a medallion called the Subet Nuliar, or Dream Riddle. It is said to be graven in runes which are a prophetic poem or riddle related somehow to the function of the medallion. The medallion is a ring of metal hung with three gems. It is either mounted to a staff or tied with a piece of red silk.

Opting Out

Although the major faiths may reject the chaotic neutral individual as unable to commit to the rigors of faith, in fact such individuals strongly believe that their life and fate are their own. They reject the intervention of the supernatural. They may view the believer as insufficiently strong of will to make it in the world without the belief that some supernatural force guides and shapes events. Thus, chaotic neutral individuals who truly maintain the neutral outlook accept the status of non-believer with honor.
