11/4/2012 - Work on this began as it does on all resin kits, with cleaning up pour stubs and flash. Once finished with that I began test fitting and noticed a serious problem with the hull halves: one was about 1/16" shorter in height than the other, producing a serious mis-alignment.
Investigating, I found that one hull wall was thicker than the other and that the large tab was preventing alignment. To fix this I added spreaders along the port half so its outside dimensions matched the other half. I also routed out the area in the starboard half where the tab fit in.
Those fixes got the hull to a point where they would fit together well enough. I used 5-minute epoxy to join the half and rubber bands, since there was also some gapping fore and aft. A small clamp (with jaws padded) aft helped eliminate gaps.
Once the epoxy was cured I removed the bands and applied white putty along the seam lines. The keel side needed a lot of attention due to the detail down there. The only other sub-assembly work was on the tail surfaces. I superglued the verticals to the horizontals checking for squareness and test-fitting them to the notches in the main body to make sure they would fit in place when the time comes to attach them.
