The models were built.

It just never got filmed.

The Star Truck was a Chevy pick-up converted to a starship using do-it-yourself conversion plans the characters found advertised in the back pages of a magazine. After scrounging up all the pop cans they could and cashing them in, they handed their $19.95 to the postman who, in true cartoon fashion, immediately handed them the tube of plans.

Working long hours in a nearby abandoned mineshaft (doesn't everyone have one hear home?), the pick-up was transformed into... (insert fanfare here...) Star Truck One!
