  1. Michael has a fear of heights. The fear of heights is called acrophobia. Give an explanation of how he acquired this fear using classical and/or operant conditioning principles. Lately, his fear of heights has spread to tall buildings also. How could you explain this using classical and/or operant conditioning principles. (4 pts.)




  2. Michael's mother, aka Leadfoot Livingston (for her tendency to speed and put the pedal to the metal) loves the slot machines. After a short visit to Vegas some years back, she feel in love with "the one-armed bandit." How would you explain Leadfoot's deep passion for playing the slots, using concepts from classical and or operant conditioning.(4 pts.)




  3. Give a real world personal example of punishment and of negative reinforcement.(2 pts.)
