  1. Suppose you are the well-known advice columnist, Dr Behavior, and you have just received the following e-mail (Dr. Behavior is a technophile and only responds to electronic communication).
    Dear Dr. Behavior-- My relationship just ended, and I wanted you to explain to me what happened. Whenever I wanted to talk about our relationship, my mate would yell, "I can't take the pressure! I need to be alone! I'm just not cut out to be in a relationship!" Obviously, this would end the discussion. As the relationship continued, I was less likely to talk to her about our problems. The relationship finally ended due to lack of communication. What was going on here, Dr. Behavior? --Sensitive New Age Guy.

Why do behaviorists favor the scientific explanation? What is lost with the scientific explanation, and how big a deal is it? Which are you more comfortable with? Why?
