- What specifically is meant by the term the misbehavior
of organisms? What conceptual and methodological problems did
the various forms of misbehavior present for behaviorists?
A:
- If humans are indeed like other organisms, then our conditioning
is likely to be subject to some forms of constraint as well. Constrained
learning is not the same as physical constraint. Our inability
to fly due to lack of wings is a physical constraint. Constrained
learning refers to the extent to which our ability to be conditioned
or learn new behaviors is influenced by our inheritance. Try to
come up with at least three ways in which our learning or conditioning
is constrained in the ethological sense and tell why you
consider it to be so.
[Note: This is going to be a difficult task. Don't be overly
concerned about whether your examples are right or wrong. I am
more concerned with seeing the type of reasoning you use in solving
this than in whether you are right or wrong.]
