The Limitations of My Course without Electronic Communication

There were four distinct areas of my class with which I was concerned;

  1. Did they write it on the bus coming to class? (the quality of my students' writing on their assignments)

  2. What are they really thinking about the class? (whether I was getting adequate feedback about the class)

  3. When did they give it to me, and where did I put it? (my management of the volume of material for the class)

  4. And several problems resulting from time and place constraints--

    • Sorry, time's up!

    • Pack it in--you don't have much time, and you won't see them again for a while.

    • Betty writes great papers. Why doesn't she talk more in class?

    • Sorry, I work then. How about midnight after I get off work?

    • Sometimes grandmothers really do die.
