Itinerary

• Minneapolis to Chicago:  #1214, 8:51 am - 10:39 am, in air for 1:48, layover time 0:56.  (Actual arrival time was 10:13, early.)
• Chicago to Miami:  #1345, 11:35 am - 3:35 pm (i.e. 2:35 CST), in air for 3:00, layover time 1:45.  (Actual departure time was 12:05, and arrival time was 4:20, 3:20 CST, late.)
• Miami to Quito:  #967, 5:20 pm (i.e. 4:20 CST) - 8:33 pm, in air for 4:13.  (Actual arrival time was 8:30, early.)

Coming home, June 27:

• Quito to Miami:  #932, 6:38 am - 11:48 am (i.e. 10:48 CST), in air for 4:10, layover time 1:38
• Miami to Chicago:  #1981, 1:26 pm (i.e. 12:26 CST) - 3:43 pm, in air for 3:17, layover time 0:58
• Chicago to Minneapolis:  #1263, 4:41 pm - 5:59 pm, in air for 1:18

Upon reaching Ecuador - Plans as of June 4:

1. Welcome and meet with the Base Church Communities of Cumbaya and the rural villages.  Exchange of gifts and a program of dances and songs.
    
2. Attend a meeting of the Junta Parroquial (town council).
    
3. Tour of Cumbaya
    
4. Go to the weaving market in Otavalo on Saturday, June 15.
    
5. Sunday, June 16. Work in a minga (community work projects). Attend evening Mass in the colonial church
    
6. Visit the most famous national shrine to the Blessed Virgin (Nuestra Senora de Quinche)
    
7. Visit historical Quito, the Museo de la Ciudad, one of the many colonial churches with their alters of carved wood covered with hammered gold.  The Basilica, the Panecillo with the winged Virgin of Quito.
    
8. Spend 2 days and 1 night with families of the Extended Team of the Base Church Community.  We will live with them, doing whatever they do: service, games, immersion.
    
9. A day at Tingo, hot mineral baths about 1/2 hour from Cumbaya
    
10. Saturday, June 22 - another Minga in Cumbaya
     
11. Sunday, June 23 - a trip to the Equator.
     
12. Spend a day in Lumbisi with the people of the Base Church Communities and become involved in some service and attend one of the Base Church Community meetings.
     
13. Enter as a group in one of the parades of the "Fiestas Patronales" (St. Peter is their patron saint)
     
14. Tour the "tourist strip" Avenida Amazonas in Quito.
     
15. Wednesday, June 26 - "Despedida" - farewell party in the evening.
     
16. Thursday, June 27 - Adios
    
    This is open to change and we will update changes as we are able.  Our contact is Sr. Joan Gerads with the Franciscan mission in Cumbaya. We will attempt to e-mail at least every other day with updates and photos.  - Barb.
