About Me

I am happily married to my wife, Kelly, and have two young daughters.

My family and I

I presently work for the CSB/SJU Libraries in the Discovery Systems department. Most of my time is spent as Materials Description Associate, specializing in music materials. What does this mean? I catalog new and gift music materials for the libraries (scores, books, CDs, LPs) into our computer system. (read: sophisticated data entry) If you're looking for music, I can help you find it.

The other part of my time is spent in an apprenticeship with Br. Andrew Goltz in the preservation department of our libraries. Once a week you can find me rebacking books, rebinding books, binding items from scratch, making special boxes, and restoring items. It's immensely rewarding to take an item that is falling apart and make it even better than new.

I've played string bass for many, many years--in fact, I majored in String bass performance in college. I currently give lessons. I can be found performing regularly at the Sacred Heart Parish in Freeport and with a number of local ensembles including the Amadeus Chamber Symphony.

I'm also very interested in gardening and home wine making. I'm the chair of the  St. John's Community Garden Society and also an active member of the Stearns County Master Gardeners.

Some of my other interests include cooking, camping, writing and listening to music,  winemaking, HO model railroading, and reading.
