This protein contains almost exclusively antiparallel beta structure. These types of proteins contains 4-10 twisted antiparallel beta strands in a ways in which two twisted beta sheets are formed which pack against each other in a barell -like structure. The packed sheets have a hydrophobic core of side chains between them. SOD has 8 antiparallel beta strands, along with a Cu and Zn ion.
