Nurses should recommend the use of carbon monoxide detectors in the home.

- Dizziness
- Drowsiness
- Nausea
- Headache
- Flu-like symptoms
- Continued exposure can result in coma or death.
Sources of poisoning: (Smith, 2000)
- Improperly vented furnaces.
- Blocked chimneys
- Automobile exhaust
